Developers propose Montgomery-to-Panama City toll road
A proposal between developers and Wiregrass economic development to build a toll road from Montgomery to Panama City Florida is being developed.
The goal is to create the very first toll road that will connect central Alabama to the Florida Panhandle.
In terms of proposing a public-private road, Governor Bob Riley and the state transportation officials have already conducted meetings of the matter.
A connector road proposed by Alabama’s DOT from Midland City to Interstate 10 if the proposed road is built. Despite the proposal, no route has been determined yet on Montgomery to U.S. 231, Chipley, Florida, or Panama City.
State or federal money will not be involved for this proposed road according to the director of the Alabama Department of Transportation, Joe McInnes.
